A Welcoming All-Male Camping Community 40 Minutes from Ann Arbor

Looking for a gay campground near Ann Arbor?

CreekRidge Campground is a private, membership-only, all-male campground in Stockbridge, Michigan — about 30 miles from Ann Arbor, roughly a 40-minute drive south on US-23. For a lot of our Ann Arbor members, that’s closer than their commute to work.

Designed for men ages 21 and older, CreekRidge Campground combines outdoor recreation, themed weekends, Club Solitude nightlife, and a welcoming community where friendship, connection, and belonging are at the heart of every experience.

Membership is required for all guests.

Because at CreekRidge Campground, friends become family.

From Ann Arbor’s Inclusive Culture to a Community Built on Belonging

Ann Arbor has long been known for its progressive values, diverse community, and commitment to inclusion. Home to the University of Michigan, the city attracts students, faculty, professionals, researchers, and creatives from around the world — people who value authenticity, personal growth, and meaningful connection.

Those same values help shape the CreekRidge Campground experience. Many guests from Ann Arbor appreciate spaces that feel welcoming rather than exclusive. Community-driven rather than transactional. Authentic rather than performative.

Why the Short Drive Matters

Because Ann Arbor is close enough for a same-day trip, a lot of our Ann Arbor members treat CreekRidge Campground less like an annual getaway and more like a regular weekend spot — up Friday after work, home Sunday afternoon. Others come up just for a themed weekend event and head back the same night.

That’s different from what we hear from members driving in from farther out — for Ann Arbor, the distance itself becomes part of the appeal. It’s far enough to feel like a real escape from the city, close enough that you don’t need to plan three months ahead to make it happen.

Getting Here from Ann Arbor

Take US-23 South to M-52, then follow the local roads into Stockbridge. If you’re using Google Maps or Apple Maps, search “CreekRidge Campground” directly rather than just “Stockbridge, MI” to route straight to the entrance.

More Than a Typical Gay Campground Experience

A great getaway isn’t just about changing locations. It’s about changing pace.

Mornings can begin with coffee outside your campsite. Afternoons might be spent by the heated pool, exploring wooded trails, or relaxing by the fishing ponds. Evenings can include community events, conversations around a campfire, or a visit to Club Solitude.

Some guests are highly social. Others prefer peaceful weekends immersed in nature. Many enjoy a little bit of both — and with Ann Arbor this close, there’s no pressure to pack everything into a single trip.

Why Ann Arbor Guests Choose CreekRidge Campground Instead of Another Weekend in Town

Ann Arbor offers plenty of ways to spend a weekend — coffee shops, restaurants, festivals, campus events, art fairs. Those experiences are part of what makes the city a great place to live.

But sometimes people want a different way to experience community, not a break from it.

Neither is better. They’re simply different — and for Ann Arbor members, the short drive means you don’t have to choose one or the other for the whole season.

From Ann Arbor Pride to CreekRidge Pride

Ann Arbor’s strong LGBTQ visibility and Pride participation reflect a community that values acceptance, inclusion, and belonging. Those same values are celebrated throughout the CreekRidge season — community events, themed weekends, and CreekRidge Pride Weekend create opportunities for members to come together and strengthen the friendships that make the community special.

First Time Visiting from Ann Arbor?

You don’t need camping experience. You don’t need to know anyone. And you don’t need to attend every event.

Many first-time guests arrive with questions about whether they’ll fit in. What they often discover is a welcoming community where participation is entirely up to them.

Frequently Asked Questions for Ann Arbor Members

How long is the drive from Ann Arbor to CreekRidge Campground? About 40 minutes, roughly 30 miles, mostly via US-23 South.

Can I do a day trip from Ann Arbor, or should I stay overnight? Given how close Ann Arbor is, a day visit works well if you’d rather not stay over — Day Passes are available for exactly that. If you want the full experience (campfire evenings, Club Solitude, a morning by the pond), staying over is worth it given how short the drive back is.

Is membership required even for a day visit? Yes — membership is required for all guests regardless of how long you’re staying. See our Membership page for how that works.

How often do Ann Arbor members typically visit? Because the drive is short, many treat CreekRidge Campground as a recurring weekend spot rather than a once-a-season trip — some come up for every themed weekend, others a few times a season.
